Snow Leopards -ideas for evaluating a conservation project

Whilst sitting in the hairdressers (yes, sad again!) I was flicking through a travel magazine called 'Wanderlust' (better than OK anyway!) and found an article on a conservation project in Mongolia targeted at the Snow Leopard. These are wonderful creatures. The footage of snow leopards probably made Vertical Limit a watchable film! In true form I made a note of the web address for the David Shepherd organisation & followed it up this morning. This website outlines the project and a furthur more detailed evaluation of conservation work with snow leopards can be found here. I doubt that you will have time to read it all, however page 27 will do for a conclusion! ' It refers to WWF.
The conservation of the snow leopard in the Mongolian Altai and especially in the Uvs aymag (which was mainly visited for this assessment) is a remarkable and exemplary example of nature conservation through a charismatic flagship species. Considering the relatively short time – the activities havestarted about ten years ago – the protection, conservation, education and awareness has been advanced far.' More info. can be found at the snow leopard trust website.
