This is nothing to do with widlerness! I'm stuck on Chi squared. Is n the same as df? And to calculate df is it number of squares-1 or classes-1 (e.g. classes is angular rocks and rounded rocks)?
If n is number of squares then one of my X2 values is 5.211910354. This value isn't exactly in the table so how do I work out what the p value is?
If the p value was 0.01 for examplewhat would this signify anyway?

Df = n-1, where n is number of cells ('sums') so 2 locations and three shapes would create 6. If the value of chi squared at the appropriate degrees of freedom, then the hypothosis is correct ie that a relationship exists between distance from the sea & shape of material. It DOES NOT tell you whether the relationship is negative or positive. I am NT pd 1!
