Managing Low Flow Levels

Year 12 ILA, 30th November/4th December.
What causes low flow in rivers? What effect does it have? What can be done to manage low flow conditions in rivers?
Use this as a STARTING point & make specific reference to case studies.

The 1000 low flow on the Murry-Darling river basin mentioned here might be a good e.g.
Low water levels have been reported on the River Thames since Spring 2007.

This is nothing to do with flooding, it's to do with coursework:
When I am doing Spearmans rank I have got some Rs values above 1.0. What does that mean? Should I say that this data is unreliable and therfore I am not going to analyze it, but look at a different transects data?

I think you should change the time on the home page, it's an hour fast, tut tut!

Thanks =]

Just a general comment... I just fancied trying this out...

While I'm here, can I check that for the coursework it is ok to do data representation for every alternate transect rather than every single one? Because doing an A3 spread for just one transect has taken me hours and I have 15 transects all together so I thought just doing every other one would be a better idea and would still represent the whole data well. Is that ok?

Christel -You cannot have a value that has been correctly calculated other than between -1 and +1! Come I find me in the morning!

Anna -well spotted! As far as the data representation goes I think that would be fine -you could go down to every third (or take averages of every three?). I am NT pds 1 & 2 if you want to find me.
